    CubeSmart seeks a Data Scientist to join the Business Intelligence department at its Malvern, PA headquarters.  Reporting to the Director of Data Science, the Data Scientist will drive significant revenue growth through development of advanced demand forecast models, pricing and revenue optimization models, digital marketing automation, and ad hoc analytics that span all functions of the Company.

    Responsibilities

    • Contribute to the enhancement of the Company’s pricing and revenue management system, interfacing with both internal and external analytical and development resources. This will include interaction with renowned academic experts in the Revenue Management discipline.
    • Assist in the definition, implementation, and refinement of all downstream business applications of any forecasting output, including primary application in the Company’s proprietary revenue management system.
    • Design, implement, and evaluate statistical testing protocol for website, call center, and pricing optimization.
    • Develop models to enhance and optimize the digital sales funnel, including optimization of paid search bidding models; and customer-centric promotion, pricing and online experiences.
    • Engage with internal stakeholders, executives, external marketing agencies, consultants, and IT resources to facilitate the collection and interpretation of operational data.

    Qualifications

    Education and/or Work Experience Requirements

    • MS/ PhD in a quantitative discipline (Operations Research, Statistics, Engineering, Mathematics or similar) or equivalent work experience
    • Experience in a developing and applying statistical models in a commercial environment and/or through academic projects.
    • Strong background in applied statistics (regression analysis), microeconomics (discrete choice modeling) and/or mathematical optimization.

    Knowledge and Abilities:

    To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following:

    • Demonstrates keen business/strategic acumen, understanding how to apply statistical models to business problems.
    • Understands that the best scientific models start with a deep understating of the business application of the model and the appropriate data structures and assumptions.
    • Knowledge of a vast set of statistical models and packages, including traditional statistical models (e.g., linear, logistic regressions, time-series models, clustering) as well as machine learning algorithms (e.g., decision trees, random forest, boosted trees, SVM).
    • Experience and proficiency in using data visualization packages to understand the trends influencing a business challenge, and to evaluate the efficacy of a model.
    • Proficient technical programmer (e.g., SQL, MatLab, R, Python, etc.) and statistical analysis experience working with large datasets.
    • Works well in a collaborative, team-based environment; prioritizes the success of the team.
    • Is highly inquisitive and an innovative thinker; develops unique, creative solutions to complex problems.
    • Strong project management skills. Experience working in an Agile development environment is a plus.
    • Ability to work independently and interface effectively with both technical and non-technical colleagues.
    • Strong listening and communication skills are essential.
